The hague: The Netherlands has officially declared its support for Moroccan sovereignty as the most practical resolution to the ongoing Sahara dispute. This stance was articulated in a Joint Statement issued by Nasser Bourita, the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, alongside David Van Weel, the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs and of Asylum and Migration, following their meeting on Friday in The Hague.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the Joint Statement further noted that the Netherlands welcomes the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2797. The statement emphasized the Netherlands’ full support for the efforts of the UN Secretary General and his Personal Envoy to lead negotiations based on the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative. The aim is to achieve a just, lasting, and mutually acceptable solution, as advocated by relevant Security Council resolutions.
