Thunderstorms, Snowfall, and Strong Wind Gusts Expected to Hit Moroccan Provinces


Rabat: Locally heavy thundery showers with a risk of hail, snowfall, and strong wind gusts are expected on Tuesday and Wednesday in several provinces of the Kingdom, according to the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM).



According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, locally heavy thundery showers measuring 30-40 mm with a risk of hail are anticipated on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the provinces of Assa-Zag and Es-Semara. The DGM issued an orange-level weather alert bulletin to inform residents about the potential impact.



The weather phenomenon is expected to extend from Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. to Wednesday at 9:00 a.m., impacting the provinces of Al Haouz, Tinghir, Zagora, Ouarzazate, Errachidia, Taroudant, and Tata. In addition to the heavy showers, snowfall ranging from 10 to 20 cm above 2,000 meters is predicted from Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. to Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. in the provinces of Ouarzazate, Tinghir, Al Haouz, Azilal, and Midelt.



Furthermore, strong wind gusts ranging from 75 to 85 km/h are expected on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the provinces of Al Haouz, Ouarzazate, Azilal, Chichaoua, and Taroudant. The same wind patterns are anticipated on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the provinces of Essaouira, Chichaoua, and Al Haouz, the DGM concluded.
