NEW YORK: The general session of the 79th of the United Nations General Assembly kicks off in New York today.
The session, which is being held this year under the title: “Leaving no one behind: working together to advance peace, sustainable development and human dignity for present and future generations”, will continue until Saturday, September 28, and will conclude on Monday, September 30, 2024.
The President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, is scheduled to deliver the State of Palestine’s speech before the General Assembly next Thursday, September 26.
The current session of the General Assembly witnessed a historic event when the State of Palestine obtained an official seat among the member states of the General Assembly for the first time during the opening session, in implementation of a resolution issued last May.
