Rabat: This UN document illustrates the quality of the dialogue between the FAR and MINURSO, noting that no fewer than four high-level visits were organized to the FAR’s Southern Zone headquarters, besides five technical meetings in Laayoune, Dakhla, and Guelmim.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, MINURSO conducted no fewer than 7,723 visits to various FAR facilities. This significant figure demonstrates the Kingdom’s exemplary cooperation with the UN Mission. The FAR also conducted 58 investigative patrols covering 354 reported sites, enabling MINURSO to cover some 364,440 kilometers in ground patrols.

One of the most significant aspects highlighted by the UN Secretary-General’s report concerns Morocco’s pioneering commitment to mine clearance. The FAR cleared nearly 129 million square meters of land, neutralizing 34 antipersonnel mines, 60 antitank mines, and 475 explosive devices. This considerable effort demonstrates the FAR’s expertise in this area and is part of a multifaceted approach aimed at
securing the terrain and creating optimal conditions for the safe and secure passage of goods and people.

The report explicitly expresses MINURSO’s confidence in Morocco’s commitment and capacity regarding the safety of UN personnel. This recognition is a significant endorsement of the professionalism and seriousness with which the Moroccan authorities honor their commitments to the international community.

This exemplary cooperation, praised in the UN Secretary-General’s report, reinforces Morocco’s position as a credible and reliable partner of the international community. It also illustrates the Kingdom’s ability to combine the legitimate defense of its territorial integrity with constructive openness to UN mechanisms.

However, the UN Secretary-General’s report singles out the separatist group “polisario,” which has persisted in its obstruction of all helicopter reconnaissance flights since November 2020 and refuses any direct contact with the MINURSO command. The UN Secretary-General calls on the separ
