Update: One Palestinian killed, another injured by Israeli army gunfire in Al-Bireh

One young Palestinian was killed and another wounded tonight after Israeli occupation forces opened gunfire at a vehicle near the colonial Israeli settlement of Pesagot, to the east of Al-Bireh city in the occupied West Bank, according to local sources. The sources reported that Israeli troops set up an ambush for the vehicle at the entrance to the settlement before they opened fire at the two young men who were inside the vehicle and subsequently arrested them. Israeli occupation soldiers were seen carrying the injured young men on stretchers into the settlement for detention, the sources said. Shortly after, Israeli ambulance vehicles arrived at the scene, although the nature of the injuries sustained by the two individuals was not immediately clear. The Ministry of Health said in a statement following the shooting that one of the two youths was critically injured in the abdomen, while the other suffered light injuries in the lower limbs before it later announced that the one critically wounded, identified as Muhammad Jibril Rummaneh, 17, had died of his wounds, as it was informed by the Civil Affairs Authority following contacts with the Israeli side. Later images captured at the site of the shooting revealed bloodstains on the ground, underscoring the intensity of the incident.
