Virtual Hackathon held as part of 9th SDMX Global Conference

Bahrain, represented by the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA), in collaboration with international organizations organizing the SDMX Global Conference, is having a virtual hackathon.

Talented developers, statisticians, data experts, and data students from local, regional, and international institutions, as well as academia and the private sector, are invited to participate in the challenge by visiting sdmx2023.org/hackathon. The deadline for submission is September 29.

The submissions will be evaluated by a qualified committee comprised of statistics and data science experts. The results will be announced at events accompanying the 9th SDMX Global Conference on Statistical Data and Metadata Exchange (SDMX), which will be held in the Kingdom of Bahrain end of October.

The objective of this hackathon challenge is to develop an open-source responsive web application that effectively reads a specification file and retrieves data from SDMX APIs to create a dynamic dashboard. The web application will provide dashboard designers with a user-friendly interface to create customizable dashboards, effortlessly integrating data from SDMX APIs and offering rich visualization options. The project aims to empower dashboard designers to explore, analyse, and present data from SDMX sources in a visually appealing and intuitive manner.

The SDMX dashboard generator is expected to be a valuable tool for data analysts, researchers, policymakers, and institutions interested in harnessing its capabilities. It simplifies the integration of data with specification files, allowing users to gain effective insights and make informed decisions based on reliable and up-to-date data. As the information generator is open source, it fosters collaboration between communities, enhances their contributions, increases customization, and drives innovation and continuous improvement. We encourage talented developers, statisticians, and data professionals from various institutions to participate in the development of an open-source interactive web application that facilitates shared access to statistical data, information, and documents.
