Leading a large WB delegation, Banga was greeted on arrival at Marrakech-Menara international airport by Nadia Fettah, Minister of Economy and Finance.
In a statement to the press on this occasion, Banga noted that the World Bank and Morocco enjoy a long-standing relationship, dating back more than 65 years.
“I’m delighted to be here in Morocco,” said Banga, adding that the Moroccan government has put in place clear strategies that the WB is monitoring.
The WB/IMF Meetings are returning to African soil after an absence of 50 years, he recalled, noting that this major event will provide an opportunity to examine new development programs and address opportunities to be seized.
In a similar statement, Fettah said that the WB/IMF Annual Meetings are an important opportunity for governments, economic players and operators to discuss and examine solutions for coping with and adapting to the crises facing the world, and for meeting the challenges inherent in climate change and inflation.
