This meeting, which was attended by the Director of Communication and Cooperation of MAP, Rachid Tijani, allowed to decide on the theme of this international event which will be “The future of news agencies in a post pandemic world”.
The Council also addressed the main points related to the organization of this event, the first of its kind in Africa, reviewing the various personalities who will take part in the NAWC and the themes of the panels.
The setting of final dates, the choice of host sites and working languages were also on the agenda of this meeting, in addition to the logistics necessary for the success of this major event of world news agencies.
A third meeting of NACO members will be held in June 2022 in London, to ensure optimal preparation for this event, which is expected to shape the future of global news agencies.
In December 2019, the members of the World News Agencies Council opted for Morocco to host the 7th edition of the News Agencies World Congress in 2022.
The choice of the Kingdom is a mark of confidence of the members of NACO in its ability to successfully organize events of international scope.
Morocco’s vocation as a tourist destination, its legendary hospitality and its expertise in organizing global events are all factors that militated in favor of this choice. Moreover, the holding of this event in Marrakech will undoubtedly contribute to consolidate the achievements of the media sector in the Kingdom.
The six previous editions of the News Agencies World Congress were held in Russia (2004), Spain (2007), Argentina (2009), Saudi Arabia (2012), Azerbaijan (2015) and Bulgaria (2019).
