Rabat: The Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) organized on Tuesday the third conference of the Inspire and Debate series under the theme “Sport, Digital Transformation and the Future of African Sport,” as part of the activities of the AMCI Fan Zone set up for AFCON Morocco 2025.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the conference was held for international students and graduates in Morocco and reflects the Kingdom’s commitment-under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI-to supporting African youth. The Inspire and Debate cycle offers a platform for exchange, debate, and inspiration around sport, football, innovation, and key challenges facing the African continent.

The event took place at the AMCI International University Campus in Rabat and gathered over 200 participants, including African ambassadors accredited to Morocco, senior institutional officials, private-sector stakeholders, and numerous international students and graduates. The opening session was led by Mohamed Methqal, Ambassador and Director General of AMCI.

The conference featured notable speakers such as Nar Abakar, sports consultant and former Vice-President of the Chadian Football Federation; Sofiane Filali, Executive Director of the African Confederation of E-Sports; Sherif Hassan, Head of Digital and Marketing at the Confederation of African Football (CAF); and Othmane Ibn Ghazala, CEO of AcceLab, co-founder of GC Sports and Executive Director of APSEM.

Discussions underscored the strategic role of digital transformation in modernizing African sport, its impact on performance, governance, and youth inclusion, as well as the opportunities it creates in innovation, employability, and South-South cooperation for sustainable sport development across the continent.

The conference also facilitated rich exchanges between students and speakers on topics such as the digitalization of sports infrastructure, the use of data and artificial intelligence in performance and sports management, new economic models in sport, the role of startups and technological innovation, and employment and entrepreneurship prospects for African youth within the sports ecosystem.

A final conference under the theme “Morocco 2030: An African Ambition” is scheduled to take place on Friday, January 16, starting at 6 pm.
