AFCON 2025: First ‘Inspire & Debate’ Conference Held in AMCI Fan Zone in Rabat

Rabat: The first ‘Inspire and Debate’ conference, focused on “Sport and Youth Employability in Africa,” was convened in the AMCI Fan Zone at the International University City of Rabat. This initiative aligns with Morocco’s commitment to African youth under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the conference series aims to provide a platform for discussion on African challenges. The inaugural event attracted over 150 participants, including African ambassadors to Morocco, senior officials, private sector representatives, and international students.

The conference was inaugurated by Ambassador and AMCI Director General Mohamed Methqal and featured distinguished speakers such as H.E. Dr. Mamadou Tangara, former Foreign Minister of The Gambia, and H.E. Kazimbaya Shakilla Umutoni, Rwandan Ambassador to Morocco. Other notable participants included Abdoulaye Diop from Mazars, Zakaria Fahim from BDO Morocco, and Reda Laraichi of RWG – Rainbow World Group.

The discussions underscored the strategic importance of sport in promoting socio-economic integration through entrepreneurship, vocational training, and social inclusion. The event facilitated dialogue on the benefits of hosting major sporting events like the AFCON, mechanisms for nurturing young football talent, and the evolving role of e-sports and technology in African sports.

AMCI’s ‘Inspire and Debate’ series reinforces its dedication to South-South cooperation, emphasizing youth and dialogue in line with the Royal Vision for Africa. Upcoming conferences will address themes of youth, innovation, and sustainability, with events scheduled for January 2026 on topics such as African integration through sport and the future of African digital innovation.
