Rabat: The DR Congo defeated Botswana 3 goals to zero Tuesday at Al Madina Stadium in Rabat, as part of Group D’s 3rd matchday of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), thus guaranteeing its spot at the round of 16.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the Congolese goals were scored by Nathanael Mbuku in the 31st minute and Gael Kakuta, who found the net twice, once in the 41st minute and again in the 60th minute through a penalty.
In the group’s other match, Senegal outclassed Benin with a similar scoreline of 3-0. At the end of the first round, DR Congo finished second in its group with 7 points, overtaken by Senegal on goal difference, with Senegal having a goal difference of +6 compared to DR Congo’s +4.
