Agadir: The 4th high-level meeting of heads of counter-terrorism and security agencies in Africa, known as the “Marrakech Platform,” commenced in Agadir. The event, held under the joint leadership of Morocco and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), has attracted participation from approximately forty African intelligence and security services. Additionally, around thirty delegations from the Middle East, Europe, America, and Asia are attending as observers, alongside representatives from United Nations regional institutions.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, this significant gathering succeeds previous editions held in Marrakech in 2022, Tangiers in 2023, and Fez in 2024. The meeting takes place against the backdrop of persistent and evolving terrorist threats across the African continent.

The substantial interest shown by both African nations and international partners in this edition underscores the “Marrakech Platform’s” pivotal role. The platform is recognized as a crucial venue for the exchange of expertise, reinforcement of regional cooperation, and identification of key priorities for strengthening capabilities in combating terrorism in Africa.
