Atif Tijani: A Young Voice in Moroccan Politics

Ouarzazate:At just 23 years old, Atif Tijani has embarked on his political career by securing a seat in the Lower House for the Ouarzazate constituency during the legislative elections held on September 23. Representing the Istiqlal Party, he is now the youngest member of the 12th Legislature.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Tijani’s election underscores the growing interest among Moroccan youth in political participation and public affairs. His success highlights their determination to contribute to the country’s democratic system and sustainable development.

Born in the commune of Taznakht in Ouarzazate province, Tijani holds a baccalaureate in physical sciences and pursued higher education in management and business administration. This academic background has given him insight into the business world and current economic challenges. His involvement in local associations in Taznakht has also provided him with a deeper understanding of the daily challenges faced by residents, especially in rural areas.

Tijani’s election campaign focused on the economic development of Ouarzazate province, with an emphasis on renewable energy, tourism, and cinema. As the head of the local list for the Istiqlal Party, he aims to promote these sectors during his term in the House of Representatives.

In his interview with MAP, Tijani outlined his priorities, which include improving healthcare, infrastructure, and education in response to the needs of residents, particularly women and the youth. He is committed to using his position to support investment projects that have significant economic and social impacts in the province, thereby creating job opportunities for young people.

Despite the responsibilities he now faces, Tijani is determined to fulfill his mission and maintain the trust of his voters, viewing his youth as an asset in shaping public policies and government programs.
