Rabat:The CEO of the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN), Tarik Ameziane Moufaddal, emphasized the need for strengthened international cooperation to address the scale and complexity of current energy and climate challenges during a meeting in Rabat.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Moufaddal, speaking at the 158th edition of the Diplomatic Hub organized by the Diplomatic Foundation, highlighted the importance of enhancing institutional exchanges, sharing expertise, and forming partnerships to achieve impactful projects. The meeting, themed “Morocco’s Energy Transition: Ambitions, Prospects, and International Cooperation,” underscored that while energy trajectories vary across countries, they raise questions about a shared future.
Moufaddal pointed out that energy issues extend beyond technical and economic aspects, touching on sovereignty, industrial competitiveness, and climate responsibility. Under King Mohammed VI’s leadership, Morocco is investing in renewable energy as a strategic vision to promote energy sovereignty and sustainable development.
He noted Morocco’s goal to increase the share of renewable energy to over 52% of national installed electrical capacity by 2030, leveraging its solar and wind resources for industrial and developmental opportunities. MASEN plays a pivotal role in Morocco’s energy transition by developing major renewable projects that enhance industrial competitiveness, create jobs, and attract investments.
Additionally, MASEN is advancing Morocco’s position in the green hydrogen sector, particularly through the “Morocco Offer” initiative. Abdelati Habek, president of the Diplomatic Foundation, stated that Morocco’s energy strategy is a key pillar of its development model, combining a long-term vision with innovation and partnerships. This strategy strengthens Morocco’s regional and continental position in renewable energies.
The event, attended by ambassadors and representatives from over 30 countries and international organizations, is part of the Diplomatic Foundation’s series on Morocco’s major development projects and international initiatives.
