Burundi Reiterates Support for Morocco’s Sovereignty and Autonomy Plan


New york: Burundi has reaffirmed its unwavering support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as its backing of the country’s autonomy plan. This position was articulated in a joint communiqu© signed on Tuesday by Burundi’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Development Cooperation, €š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬°douard Bizimana, and Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita. The signing took place in New York on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly.



According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the communiqu© acknowledges the growing international consensus and the momentum initiated by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in support of the autonomy plan and Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara region.



The ministers lauded the exemplary relationship between Burundi and Morocco, emphasizing their dedication to enhancing and expanding bilateral cooperation across various sectors. This commitment aligns with the political vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and Burundi’s President Evariste Ndayishimiye, as highlighted in the communiqu©.
