Port moresby: ‘The National Executive Council, Papua New Guinea’s highest authority, has approved the holding of the Morocco-Pacific Island States Forum in Port Moresby in March 2026,’ Tkatchenko told reporters following a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, this forum will gather foreign ministers from Pacific Island countries to discuss the means of strengthening cooperation ties with the Kingdom of Morocco. Tkatchenko emphasized that hosting this forum in Port Moresby reflects the excellent ties between Morocco and Papua New Guinea.
This diplomatic event aims to evaluate the current state and future prospects for relations between the Kingdom and Pacific Island countries. It will also spotlight successful experiences in fields of strategic interest to the countries involved.
The previous Morocco-Pacific Island Countries Forum, held in February 2020 in Laayoune, was marked by the adoption of the Laayoune Declaration and the signing of several cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding between Morocco and Pacific Island countries.
