New york: ‘It is a very important meeting’ that gives an opportunity to present the Kingdom’s vision on several current issues, Akhannouch told the press, who is heading Morocco’s delegation to the 80th UN General Assembly, on High Instructions from His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Akhannouch is accompanied in this session by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and the Kingdom’s ambassador and permanent representative to the UN, Omar Hilale. The Head of Government noted that this large-scale UN event provided an opportunity to reaffirm Morocco’s commitment to a solution to the regional conflict on the Moroccan Sahara, based exclusively on the autonomy plan and national sovereignty.
He added that there was also discussion of highlighting the dynamic reforms and all-round development undertaken in the Kingdom under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
On the occasion of this global conclave, Morocco also reaffirmed its position in support of the two-state solution in the Middle East and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the June 1967 borders, with Al-Quds East as its capital and Gaza as an integral part of the state.
Themed “Better Together: 80 Years and More for Peace, Development and Human Rights,” this UN General Assembly session focuses on a plethora of current issues, including peace, sustainable development, and the climate crisis.
