CAN-2025 Qualifiers: Morocco’s Head Coach Unveils 26-Man Squad.


Rabat: Morocco’s football head coach, Walid Regragui, selected 26 players for the two upcoming matches against Gabon in Franceville on November 15 and Lesotho at Oujda’s Honor Stadium on November 18, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) said on Thursday. These two matches are part of the 5th and 6th Group B qualifiers fixtures for the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), to be held in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the national head coach will hold a press conference next Tuesday at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Salé at 6:00 pm (local time), followed by a training session open to the press for the first 15 minutes. This announcement provides an opportunity for media representatives to gain insights into the team’s preparation strategy and observe the players’ initial training activities.

The squad includes a mix of players from international clubs, showcasing Morocco’s diverse football talent. Goalkeepers selected are Yassine Bounou from
Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia, Mounir El Kajoui from Renaissance Berkane, Salaheddine Chihab from Maghreb Fès, and Ayoub El Khayati from AS FAR. The defenders include notable players such as Achraf Hakimi from Paris Saint-Germain, Noussair Mazraoui from Manchester United, and Adam Massina from Torino, among others.

Midfielders chosen for the squad feature Sofiane Amrabat from Fenerbahçe, Amir Richardson from Fiorentina, and Eliesse Ben Seghir from Monaco, highlighting the depth and versatility in the midfield position. The forwards list includes promising talents such as Ilyas Akhomach from Villarreal, Brahim Diaz from Real Madrid, and Youssef En-Nesyri from Fenerbahçe, who are expected to bolster Morocco’s attacking prowess in the qualifiers.
