Central African Republic Reaffirms Support for Morocco’s Sovereignty Over Sahara Region

Rabat: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francophonie and Central Africans Abroad of the Central African Republic, Sylvie Bapo-Temon, reiterated on Wednesday in Rabat her country’s steadfast position in support of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco over its entire territory, including the Sahara region.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the Central African top diplomat expressed her country’s support for the autonomy plan presented by the Kingdom of Morocco. This plan is viewed as the only credible and realistic solution to resolve the regional dispute. The press statement followed talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates Nasser Bourita.

The Central African Republic also commended the historic adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2797. This resolution supports the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco in 2007, affirming Moroccan sovereignty and serving as the sole basis for a fair, lasting, and mutually acceptable settlement of the dispute.
