Copenhagen: Europe and Denmark need a reliable friend like Morocco, Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen said following his meeting Friday in Copenhagen with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita. Speaking to the Danish press, Rasmussen emphasized the positive outcomes of his meeting with Bourita, which will culminate in a strategic partnership agreement encompassing political, security, and economic dimensions, with a particular focus on climate and investment.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the agreement is anticipated to be finalized next December in Rabat. Rasmussen noted that the two countries are meticulously preparing to forge an agreement that will benefit both Morocco and Denmark, including the establishment of a chamber of commerce.

Rasmussen also highlighted discussions with his Moroccan counterpart on bilateral security cooperation, especially regarding the extradition of criminals. This topic will be further explored as part of the strategic agreement currently
in development.

Regarding the Moroccan Sahara, Denmark’s top diplomat reaffirmed his country’s support for Morocco’s autonomy plan. He mentioned that Denmark, which is in dialogue with Morocco on the Sahara issue, might adjust its stance to align more closely with the United States’ position. “Morocco is our ally on the southern flank,” Rasmussen emphasized.
