Muscat, A delegation from Korea’s SK Hynix company, headed by Kwak Noh-Jung, CEO of the company, today visited the Sultanate of Oman. The visit aims to explore investment opportunities in the field of semi-conductors and electronic chips in the Sultanate of Oman.

The visit programme included conducting meetings with several ministers and undersecretaries. During those meeting, investment opportunities in the Omani market were reviewed and offered facilities were highlighted.

Members of the delegation were also briefed on the incentives offered in the infrastructure field in Oman.

Further, the delegation met with Eng. Said Hamoud Al Ma’awali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.

Al Ma’awali pointed out that the delegation’s visit comes within the framework of the ministry’s efforts to attract international companies operating in the field of semi-conductors and electronic chips and in related sectors such as technology and communications. Those efforts aim to attract more investments to the Sultanate of Oman.

The Minister added that the revenues of semi-conductors all over the world reached approximately USD 661 million in 2022.

On his turn, Kwak Noh-Jung, CEO of SK Hynix said that he looks forwards to expanding bilateral cooperation with Oman. He added that Oman accords great attention to the advanced technologies sector.

Meanwhile, KimKiejoo, Ambassador of Korea to Oman pointed out that the economic cooperation between the two countries is growing. He also underscored the importance of the delegation’s visit to the Sultanate of Oman.

He also stressed the importance of highlighting the potentials of enhancing partnership and cooperation between Oman and Korea.

Moreover, Kwak Noh-Jung, CEO of SK Hynix company and his accompanying delegation met with Eng. Salim Nasser Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, Abdulsalam Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of Oman Investment Authority (OIA), Dr. Ali Masoud Al Sunaidy, Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) and Dr. Mansour Talib Al Hinai, Chairman of the Authority for Public Services Regulation.
