Detainee ‘M.Z.’ Maintains Health and Declines Hunger Strike Claims

Al arjat: In a recent statement, the administration of the local prison in Al Arjat addressed allegations regarding the health of detainee ‘M.Z.’. The claims, originating from a press release by the prisoner’s family and circulated on various websites, suggested that ‘M.Z.’ was on a hunger strike leading to a deterioration in his health. The prison administration reaffirmed an earlier clarification dated November 24, 2025, stating that ‘M.Z.’ is not participating in a hunger strike and is in normal health.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the prisoner has not indicated any intention to engage in a hunger strike. He continues to consume meals provided by the prison and makes purchases from the commissary. ‘M.Z.’ has personally confirmed that he has not, and will not, submit any notice of a hunger strike, as he actively consumes available meals and commissary items. He views a hunger strike as a risk to his life, a stance that contradicts his religious beliefs.

The prison administration assures the public that ‘M.Z.’ receives necessary medical care and retains all legal rights, including family visits, communication with his lawyer, and contact with relatives. They caution the prisoner’s family and others against exploiting his situation through what they describe as irresponsible and unethical actions.
