Rabat:A significant partnership agreement was signed between the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST), Abdellatif Hammouchi, and the President of the National Foundation of Museums (FNM), Mehdi Qotbi, at the DGSN headquarters.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the agreement focuses on securing national museums and safeguarding Morocco’s cultural and civilizational heritage from theft, forgery, and illicit trafficking. It establishes a framework for institutional cooperation between National Security services and the FNM to protect cultural and museum assets and enhance efforts to identify, prevent, and combat crimes targeting these treasures.
The agreement emphasizes the fight against the forgery and illegal trade of archaeological and artistic works. It outlines the creation of mechanisms to ensure the physical security of national institutions and museums and support the transportation of archaeological objects and artifacts.
The collaboration also involves capacity-building and ongoing training, which includes sharing expertise on handling historical artworks and archaeological items and recognizing criminal methods employed in their forgery and trafficking. The FNM will offer guidance and technical support to enhance the National Security Museum, focusing on promoting the national security services’ institutional history through the experience of national museums.
During the ceremony, both leaders highlighted the partnership’s importance, underscoring the preservation of Morocco’s tangible and historical heritage as a shared duty. They stressed the complementary roles of security, preventive measures, and cultural missions in preserving the Kingdom’s identity.
