EWA Minister meets World Bank Group’s Water Global Practice Global Director

Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, Electricity and Water Affairs Minister, has stressed the importance of enhancing investment and innovation in raising the establishment of water security, improving the efficiency of water use, reducing waste, and taking the necessary measures to preserve water resources and limit the effects of climate change, noting that water issues are among the main pillars of sustainable development in the kingdom.

This came during a meeting with Saroj Kumar Jha, the Global Director for the World Bank Group's Water Global Practice (GP), who is a visit to Bahrain to participate in the Global Water, Energy, and Climate Change Congress (GWECCC), hosted by the Ministry of Oil and Environment as well as the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

The two sides discussed programmes and projects related to water strategies and the challenges of conservation of water resources in the region.

The minister reviewed the measures taken by Bahrain to preserve and develop its water resources.

The relationship between water and energy and limiting the effects of climate change was also discussed.

Jha praised the efforts of various Bahraini sectors to achieve cooperation in the field of preserving water security and ensuring sustainability.
