Cairo: The first mini-football tournament bringing together teams from summer camps participating in the “Summer Schools” program, implemented by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency with the support of the Kingdom of Morocco for the benefit of nearly 3,000 children, concluded on Monday at the Al-Quds Children’s Club in the Old City.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, around 100 boys and girls representing four summer clubs and schools-Dar Al-Awlad School, Al-Quds Children’s Club, Old City Club, and the African Community Club-took part in the tournament. The competition was the first sports initiative of its kind organized within the framework of the summer camps and was held in an atmosphere marked by competitiveness, camaraderie, and fair play.

At the end of the tournament, the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency awarded prizes to the winning teams. Dar Al-Awlad School claimed the tournament title, while the Al-Quds Children’s Club finished as runner-up. As a gesture of encouragement, 25 medals were als
o presented to promising young athletes in recognition of their performances and to motivate them to continue practicing sports.

Speaking on the occasion, Sports Supervisor at the Al-Quds Children’s Club and Camp Director Amjad Hijazi said the tournament represents a new initiative aimed at diversifying the sports activities offered to children while fostering a spirit of healthy competition and teamwork. He welcomed the success of the event, noting that the club intends to organize the tournament annually so that it becomes a regular fixture of the summer camp program. Hijazi also expressed his gratitude to the Agency for its continued support for the summer camps and its commitment to providing sports and recreational activities that help develop children’s abilities.

For his part, Adam Al-Chewaiki, a player from the Dar Al-Awlad camp, expressed his delight at participating in the tournament and his pride in receiving the Best Player Award. Noting that the competition provided children with a unique sport
ing experience, he thanked the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency for supporting the initiative.

Meanwhile, Nada Hamad, captain of the Al-Quds Children’s Club team, praised the outstanding sporting initiative, saying that such activities help develop children’s abilities and encourage them to play football, particularly given the shortage of sports grounds and facilities in the Old City.

For his part, Ali Abou Soubaih, Director of the Dar Al-Awlad camp, said the tournament was organized to strengthen social ties among children from different neighborhoods of Al-Quds, noting that it brought together participants from various summer camps in a spirit of friendship and fair play.

The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency, the executive arm of the Al-Quds Committee chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, continues to implement its “Summer Schools” program for the current year.
