The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates today condemned the Israeli occupation authorities’ permission for settlers to establish six settlement outposts in the Masafer Yatta area, south of Hebron, at a time it had approved the removal and displacement of its indigenous Palestinian residents under the pretext the area is a “military training zone and shooting area”. The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that these violations expose the flagrant exchange of roles between the Israeli occupation army and settlers, with support from the government, in attacking the Palestinian people in an effort to annex the West Bank. It stressed that the absence of international accountability of the occupying state for its violations and crimes, foremost of which are the settlements and ethnic cleansing, encourages the Israeli government to continue its measures to annex the West Bank, calling on the United Nations Security Council to implement resolution 2334 on settlements, and on the US administration to assume its responsibilities and translate its position rejecting settlements into actual steps that force the occupying state to stop settlements in all its forms.
