Rabat: French painter Jacques Gautrat’s exhibition kicked off on Friday at the Bab Rouah Gallery in Rabat, attended by art critics and prominent figures from the realms of art, culture, and the media.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the exhibition, organized by the Ribat Al Fath Association for Sustainable Development and part of the Floril¨ge Culturel program, runs from July 17 to 31. It features eleven acrylic paintings on canvas in the contemporary abstract art style.

In a speech on the occasion, Abdelkrim Bennani, president of the Ribat Al Fath Association for Sustainable Development, highlighted that the exhibition serves as a space for cultural exchange, bridging Morocco and France. He expressed his delight in welcoming Gautrat to Morocco and noted that the works brought from Bordeaux are distinguished by their unique style, fostering dialogue between the written word, the visual, and artistic creation.

Gautrat commented that his works are built on subtle compositions and an explosion of colors, with the canvas becoming “a fragment of space shaped by dreams.” His paintings adhere to the realm of lyrical abstraction, blending refined colors to interpret emotion.

Jacques Gautrat, an interior architect and decorator, drew his earliest inspiration from Italian painter Caravaggio and leaders of the Dutch school, before turning to abstract art, which he describes as a true revelation.
