Manama: In its final communiqu© endorsing the work of its 46th session, held in the capital of Bahrain, the GCC Supreme Council reaffirmed Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara. The Council also welcomed Resolution 2797 adopted by the United Nations Security Council on October 31, 2025, which enshrines the autonomy initiative as an important step toward achieving a realistic and achievable solution.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the Council expressed its support for the decision by HM King Mohammed VI to submit this initiative to the UN Security Council and to declare October 31 of each year a national holiday under the name “Unity Day.” This decision aligns with the GCC states’ consistent support for the Kingdom of Morocco, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, and the Kingdom’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its entire territory.
