Rabat: Burkina Faso’s Foreign Minister has praised Morocco’s expertise in water management and expressed a desire to strengthen cooperation in this area. In a press statement following discussions with Morocco’s Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, during the 19th World Water Congress, the minister highlighted Morocco’s support to Burkina Faso, particularly in cloud seeding efforts aimed at increasing rainfall and addressing water-related challenges.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the meeting between the two officials was described as “fruitful,” providing an opportunity to discuss potential cooperation between the two countries. The talks focused on the use of groundwater, optimal water management through recycling, drip irrigation, as well as academic exchanges and training. Burkina Faso’s top diplomat emphasized the importance of sharing experiences and exploring ways to enhance cooperation with Morocco in the water sector.
The 19th edition of the World Water Congress, held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, and co-organized until December 5 by the Ministry of Equipment and Water and the International Water Resources Association (IWRA), serves as a platform to explore innovative solutions, strategies, and adaptive approaches for water resources in a constantly changing world.
