Rabat: A government council, chaired by Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch, is set to convene on Thursday, according to a press release from his office.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the Council will initially review a bill concerning the transformation of the National Ports Agency (ANP) into a public limited company. This will include discussions on the amendment of the law on ports, as well as the establishment of the ANP and a new Port Operating Company.
Following this, the Council is scheduled to examine 12 draft decrees. The first 11 decrees address the effective date of the Territorial Health Groups’ (GST) authority across Moroccan regions. The final draft decree will focus on amending and supplementing the decree related to the Value Added Tax (VAT) as outlined in Title III of the General Tax Code.
The Council will also deliberate on a customs cooperation agreement between the Moroccan Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration and the Saudi Arabian Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority. This agreement, which aims for mutual recognition of each party’s authorized economic operator program, was signed in Mecca on March 5, 2025, and will be accompanied by a draft law for its approval.
Concluding the session, the Council will consider proposals for senior position appointments in accordance with Article 92 of the Constitution.
