Government Ready to Address Youth Demands Amid Protests: Minister

Rabat: The government has expressed its readiness to engage in discussions concerning the demands of the youth, aiming for effective outcomes, stated Minister Sekkouri during a press briefing after the Government Council. The statement was in response to recent protests that occurred in several cities across the Kingdom over the past two days. Sekkouri highlighted the necessity of initiating and organizing dialogue on significant issues beyond just health and education, emphasizing the importance of establishing a clear list of demands to be addressed within a practical timeframe.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the minister acknowledged the development of several programs that have yet to be implemented, reaffirming the government’s commitment to engage in transparent dialogue and respond to the demands of the youth. While expressing regret over the recent events that resulted in the death of three individuals on Wednesday, Sekkouri underlined the government’s obligation to listen to the youth’s concerns on priority issues and to convert these demands into actionable measures.

The vast majority of young protesters have expressed their views peacefully, rejecting the violent incidents observed in multiple regions, the minister added.
