Rabat: In response to questions about recent protests in several cities across the Kingdom, government spokesperson Baitas addressed the media following a Government Council meeting. He stated that the Head of Government had clearly expressed an understanding of the youth’s social demands and a willingness to engage in serious and responsible dialogue on these issues.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Baitas highlighted the necessity of two-party dialogue, emphasizing the government’s readiness to initiate this process immediately. He underscored the government’s commitment to reforming the healthcare system, acknowledging longstanding issues that have persisted for decades.
The minister also noted a significant increase in funding allocated to social sectors since 2021. The health sector budget has risen from approximately MAD 20 billion to nearly MAD 32 billion, while the education sector budget has surpassed MAD 80 billion, up from MAD 50 billion.
These figures, Baitas pointed out, demonstrate the government’s awareness of delays in these crucial sectors and its determination to expedite reforms. The goal is to ensure a positive impact on society by enhancing the role of public hospitals and schools in providing essential services, while reinforcing national, religious, and societal values.
Baitas explained that the government’s approaches are informed by objective data and evaluation reports. He emphasized the ongoing efforts to consolidate the legal framework and mobilize resources necessary for reforming the health and education systems, ultimately aiming to improve services for all citizens.
