Government Sets September 23, 2026 as Date for House of Representatives Elections


Rabat: The date for the election of members of the House of Representatives of Morocco has been set for Wednesday, September 23, 2026, Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament and Government Spokesperson, Mustapha Baitas said Thursday in Rabat.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the Government Council of Morocco approved draft decree No. 2.26.190 setting the date of the elections for members of the House of Representatives. Baitas announced the decision during a press briefing following the Council’s weekly meeting.

The draft decree, presented by the Ministry of the Interior of Morocco, aims to determine the date of the elections as well as the deadlines for submitting candidacies through the dedicated electronic platform and to the government authority responsible for receiving them.

The text also sets the electoral campaign period, in accordance with the provisions of Organic Law No. 27.11 relating to the House of Representatives, promulgated by Dahir No. 1.11.165 of October 14, 201
1, as amended and supplemented, notably Articles 21, 23, 28, and 31.

Accordingly, the election of members of the House of Representatives will take place on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, while the electoral campaign will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2026, and end at midnight on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
