Govt. Head Chairs Meeting on Reconstruction Efforts in Al Haouz Earthquake-Affected Areas


Rabat: The Head of Government recently chaired a significant meeting of the Interministerial Commission, which is tasked with the implementation of the reconstruction and development program for areas impacted by the Al Haouz earthquake. The Head of Government emphasized the positive outcomes achieved so far, attributing these successes to effective mobilization and governance. He noted that the High Royal Guidelines continue to guide government efforts aimed at enhancing basic infrastructure and improving living conditions for local communities.



According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the Director General of the High Atlas Development Agency delivered a comprehensive report on progress. The report highlighted the completion of construction work for 51,154 housing units and the distribution of 6.9 billion dirhams in financial aid to affected families.



Significant advancements have been made in various sectors. Infrastructure improvements include the ongoing upgrade of the national road N7 and the construction of 118 kilometers of new roads. In the education sector, 306 schools have been rehabilitated. The health sector has seen upgrades to 103 centers.



The agricultural sector is benefiting from the free distribution of livestock and barley, alongside the rehabilitation of rural infrastructures. In the water sector, efforts to connect rural populations to the drinking water distribution network have reached 52% completion. The tourism sector has observed the reconstruction and upgrading of 199 accommodation establishments, while the trade sector has provided direct support to 1,610 merchants for shop rehabilitation, as noted by the same source.
