At this meeting, attended by Interior Minister, Abdelouafi Laftit and the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khalid Ait Taleb, the various leaders of political parties welcomed the recent decision of the government regarding the reopening of the airspace to flights to and from Morocco as of February 7, 2022, following the recommendations of the scientific and technical commission, taking into account the evolution of the epidemiological situation in Morocco and the world, said the Department of the Head of Government in a statement.
They expressed their consideration for the constraints and reasons that motivated the public authorities to close the borders in order to immunize the Kingdom and the health of its citizens, despite the awareness of the decision’s cost to close the borders on economic, social and psychological levels.
In order to consolidate the achievements, all participants stressed that the decision to reopen the airspace can only be effective through the strict observance of all preventive measures and compliance with all directives issued by the public authorities to fight against the spread of Covid-19’s new variants.
To ensure the adequacy of measures and provisions taken with the evolution of the epidemiological situation in the Kingdom, they agreed on the need for the government and the various political parties to continue to play their roles of supervision for the sensitization of citizens to the importance of mass participation in the vaccination campaign for the groups not yet vaccinated in order to accelerate the pace of the national vaccination campaign, while strengthening immunization with the third booster dose, to avoid possible complications in case of infection, noting that vaccination is the only solution to achieve herd immunity.
“This bold decision to open the borders requires intensive efforts from all citizens to complete the vaccination schedule with the third dose of booster to strengthen herd immunity of our society in order to regain a normal and natural life,” the statement added.
