Head of Govt Views Morocco’s Participation in AU Summit as Occasion to Highlight Role in Joint African Action Under Royal Leadership

Rabat: Morocco’s participation in the 39th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) provided an opportunity to highlight the central role played by the Kingdom, under the enlightened leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, in promoting collective African action and further strengthening its relations with countries across the continent, said the Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch on Saturday in Addis Ababa.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the Summit also offered a chance to showcase the sustained efforts of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in managing migration issues, considering their human, social, and economic dimensions, added Akhannouch in a statement to the press, emphasizing that the Sovereign’s leadership in this area is widely appreciated across Africa.

Akhannouch also highlighted the pivotal role of the African Union Peace and Security Council (PSC), recalling Morocco’s election for a new term, the Kingdom’s third, within this AU body, which, he said, reflects the trust Morocco enjoys and its contribution to strengthening peace and stability on the continent.

This new term will allow Morocco to continue playing an active role within the PSC, addressing matters of security, peace, and development in Africa, and to reinforce efforts to tackle shared challenges across the continent, noted Mr. Akhannouch.
