Rabat: A heatwave and strong wind gusts accompanied by sandstorms are expected from Monday to Wednesday across several provinces of the Kingdom, the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) announced on Monday.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, temperatures ranging between 38°C and 41°C will affect the provinces of Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Khenifra, Fez, Moulay Yacoub, Taounate, Ouezzane, Khouribga, Sidi Bennour, Essaouira, Khemisset, Meknes, Safi, Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, and Inzegane-Ait Melloul from Monday to Wednesday, as specified in an orange-level alert by the DGM.
The same phenomenon, with temperatures oscillating between 41°C and 44°C, will impact the provinces of El Kelaa Sraghna, Rehamna, Youssoufia, Beni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Oued Ed-Dahab, Boujdour, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, Tata, Taroudant, Aousserd, Settat, Chichaoua, Marrakech, Zagora, and Errachidia during the same period.
Hot weather, ranging from 39-43°C, is also forecast on Monday and Tuesday in Chtouka-Ait Baha, Tiznit, Sidi Ifni, Guelmim, and Tan-Tan, and on Tuesday in Tarfaya and Laayoune, the same source added.
Meanwhile, the provinces of Aousserd, Oued-Eddahab, Boujdour, Laayoune, and Es-Semara will experience strong wind gusts (75 to 80 km/h) along with sandstorms from Monday at 10:35 AM to Tuesday at 11 PM, according to the alert.s
