Honorary Consulate of Kazakhstan Inaugurated in Marrakech


Rabat: The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Marrakech was inaugurated on Wednesday in the Red City, in the presence of local and regional authorities, as well as figures from the economic, academic, and diplomatic sectors.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, during a ceremony chaired by Saulekul Sailaukyzy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Morocco, Younes Essassi, CEO and founder of Anfa Realties Group, was officially appointed Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan with jurisdiction over Marrakech. His mission will be to contribute to protecting the rights and interests of Kazakh nationals residing in or visiting the region, while working to bridge economic, institutional, cultural, and tourism actors from both countries.

In an address for the occasion, Sailaukyzy stated that opening this Honorary Consulate marks a new step in strengthening Kazakhstan’s consular presence in Morocco, emphasizing that this local consular representati
on will help deepen relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Kazakhstan and support the development of bilateral cooperation. The diplomat recalled that relations between the two countries, established on May 26, 1992, have reached several significant milestones in recent years, citing notably the opening of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Rabat in December 2020, the entry into force in March 2025 of a reciprocal visa exemption regime for stays up to thirty days, and the creation of a Kazakhstan-Morocco Business Council.

She also observed that establishing this Honorary Consulate in Marrakesh holds strategic importance, as the city serves as a hub for tourism, cultural, and commercial flows while benefiting from significant international prestige. For his part, Essassi expressed pride in assuming this responsibility, affirming his commitment to placing his entrepreneurial experience and deep knowledge of the Moroccan economic landscape at the service of bridging the two count
ries.

This consular representation, which will carry out its duties in close coordination with the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Morocco, will work to promote economic exchanges, support bilateral cooperation initiatives, and foster the emergence of new partnerships between Moroccan and Kazakh operators, he added. The headquarters of the Honorary Consulate is located within the “Les Villas d’Anfa Marrakech” project, the first real estate development by Anfa Realties Group in the city.
