House demolished in a Jericho-area village

The Israeli occupation forces today demolished a house under construction in al-Jiftlik village, north of the ancient city of Jericho in the east of the West Bank. Local sources said the occupation forces with a military bulldozer stormed al-Jiftlik and demolished a house that was still in the construction stage owned by a local resident under the pretext of building without a permit. People were kept away from the area where the demolition was taking place, said the sources. Palestinians say the demolitions are part of Israeli plans to displace the Palestinian and Bedouin residents who have been living in that area for decades and replace them with Jewish settlements and settlers. This is also done by turning the area into a closed military zone in a way that contributes to forcing the residents to leave their villages and lands.
