Rabat: The House of Councillors concluded the first session of the 2024-2025 legislative year on Tuesday: The House of Councillors closed its initial session for the legislative year, marking a period dedicated to addressing significant socio-economic challenges faced by the nation.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Speaker of the House Mohamed Ould Errachid reflected on the session, highlighting critical issues such as drought, the Al Haouz earthquake, floods, inflation, and increasing social demands. He stressed the importance of securing funds for social projects and major structural initiatives under the guidance of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
Ould Errachid emphasized the House’s responsible engagement in tackling these challenges through its constitutional powers in various parliamentary actions. This commitment was demonstrated in the passage of key legislation, along with efforts in oversight and public policy evaluation.
Furthermore, he highlighted the promotion of parliamentary diplomacy, supporting Morocco’s sovereignty over its southern provinces of the Sahara, as per the High Guidelines of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. This was emphasized in His Speech to Parliament at the opening of the first session of the fourth legislative year of the 11th Legislature.
The session also focused on strengthening bilateral and multilateral parliamentary cooperation to safeguard the Kingdom’s strategic interests, particularly the national cause, within a framework of national diplomacy.
