JENIN: As the Israeli military assault on the northern West Bank city of Jenin continues for the third day, people are dying because they cannot access hospitals, according to Doctors Without Borders.

On Tuesday, a man carried his ill 13-year-old on foot to Khalil Suleiman Hospital because Israeli armored cars blocked ambulances. His son died on arrival.

Doctors Without Borders said the Israeli forces tear-gassed the hospital claiming children were throwing stones at armored cars. People were treated for tear gas inhalation, including a medical worker. ‘Once again medical staff have been forced to treat their own colleagues,’ it said on X.

‘One patient was discharged and an ambulance attempted to take her home. However, the ambulance was fired upon and the same patient has been re-admitted with a gunshot wound and is now undergoing surgery,’ said Doctors Without Borders. ‘Attacks on hospitals and ambulances kill.’

Jenin hospitals have been besieged by Israeli army vehicles since the start of the assault o
n Tuesday and access to the hospitals as well as the movement of ambulances are closely inspected and usually obstructed.
