Lausanne:The National Integrity, Prevention and Fight Against Corruption Authority (INPPLC) has been appointed as a member of the Steering Committee of the International Partnership Against Corruption in Sport (IPACS). This development occurred during the 9th Annual General Conference in Lausanne, Switzerland, and marks an important step in enhancing Morocco’s role in promoting integrity in sports on an international level.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the INPPLC’s appointment is a first of its kind and underscores the Authority’s commitment to safeguarding the integrity of sport through strong institutional support. The announcement was made in a statement by the INPPLC, which emphasized its dedication to ensuring confidence in sports outcomes.
Represented by its President, Mohamed Benalilou, the INPPLC expressed its intent to actively contribute to the enhancement of sports integrity both nationally and internationally. This new role allows Morocco to influence IPACS’s directions and initiativ
es, fostering collaboration among public authorities, sports organizations, and international partners.
The INPPLC sees this as an opportunity to share its expertise and develop practical tools to prevent corruption in sports. The Authority aims to implement good governance practices that promote transparency in sports management.
As Morocco prepares to host major sporting events, the INPPLC highlights the strategic importance of this membership. Ensuring integrity is crucial for the organization and positive impact of these events. The Authority is focused on maintaining transparency in contracts and resource management, as well as preemptively addressing corruption risks.
The INPPLC believes that protecting sports from corruption preserves the trust of athletes and the public, ensures fair competition, and preserves the credibility of sports. Corruption in sports not only misuses resources but also erodes trust, diminishes the value of achievements, and hinders sports’ potential to contribute to developm
ent.
Through this appointment, the INPPLC intends to engage in developing international standards for sports integrity and utilize IPACS’s expertise to strengthen corruption prevention efforts, positioning sport as a catalyst for sustainable development.
IPACS, headquartered in Lausanne, was established in 2017 by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in partnership with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the Council of Europe, and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), along with several founding governments. It now includes over 89 members and partners from diverse sectors, working to combat corruption and promote good governance in sports.
