In preparation for the 160th session of the Arab League Council at Foreign Minister level, under the presidency of the Kingdom of Morocco, Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, took part in a meeting of the follow-up body for the implementation of decisions and commitments at Foreign Minister level, which includes the Troika of the current, future and previous Arab Summit, and the Troika of the Ministerial Council, which includes Libya, Egypt and Morocco, in addition to the Secretary General of the Arab League.
Nasser Bourita’s participation was also remarkable at the meeting of the Ministerial Committee in Support of the State of Palestine, tasked with acting at international level to support Palestine’s efforts to gain greater recognition, become a full member of the United Nations, demand the holding of an international peace conference and ensure international protection for the Palestinian people.
The Minister also took an equally effective part in the meeting of the Ministerial Committee for International Action in Response to Illegal Israeli Policies and Measures in the Occupied City of Al-Quds, at which Bourita underlined the role of the Al-Quds Committee chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the projects implemented by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, the Committee’s executive body, for the benefit of A-Quds and its inhabitants.
A delegation of senior Moroccan officials also took part in meetings of the regular commissions: the Financial and Administrative Commission, the Legal Commission, the Economic Commission and the Social and Cultural Commission, followed by a meeting of permanent delegates chaired by the Moroccan Ambassador to Cairo and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Morocco to the Arab League, Ahmed Tazi.
From August 27 to 31, 2023, the delegation took part in the proceedings of the Economic and Social Council, at ministerial level, in its 112th session, which adopted a series of decisions that were submitted to the Council of Foreign Ministers under Morocco’s presidency.
The delegation included the Kingdom’s Ambassador to Cairo and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Ahmed Tazi, the Ambassador Director of Protocol, Anas Khales, the Director of the Orient, the Gulf and Arab and Islamic Organizations, Fouad Akhrif, the Head of the Arab and Islamic Organizations Division, Abdelali Al-Jahed, the Deputy Permanent Representative, Hicham Ould Sallay, the Head of the Partnership Division at the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration and the Family, Leïla Basdaki, the Head of the Division for Relations with the Arab World at the Treasury and External Finance Directorate of the Ministry of the Economy and Finance, Rokaya Ouakrim, and the Head of the Multilateral Agreements Department at the Legal Affairs and Treaties Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Adila El-Wardi.
