INTERPOL General Assembly in Marrakech: International Recognition of Morocco’s Contribution to Global Security


Marrakech: Hosting this supreme governing body of INTERPOL (24-27 November) is also a recognition of the Kingdom’s constant presence in all forums related to safety and security, as well as its active engagement within the Organization, Al-Raisi emphasized during a press conference in Marrakech.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Al-Raisi expressed his delight in being in Morocco, a country he described as one of security and peace. He highlighted Morocco’s commitment to international police cooperation and its belief in security as a shared responsibility. Organizing such a significant event underscores Morocco’s prominent role in various INTERPOL initiatives and its ongoing support for the organization.

Al-Raisi praised Morocco’s central role in maintaining global security, emphasizing its strategic geographic position at the crossroads of Africa, the Arab world, and Europe. This positioning facilitates communication and cooperation among the continents, strengthening global security efforts. Hostin
g this event, especially after welcoming global security officials in 2007, reaffirms Morocco’s dedication to close security cooperation among INTERPOL member countries amid challenges like cybersecurity and transnational crime.

He also recognized Morocco’s significant contribution to African security as INTERPOL Vice President for Africa, noting its efforts to promote cooperation with African states through training and joint operations. Morocco often leads in regional operations, showcasing its proactive stance in security matters.

Al-Raisi expressed pride in Morocco’s achievements in security cooperation across Africa, the Arab world, and internationally. He congratulated Morocco on securing the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 FIFA World Cup, expressing INTERPOL’s confidence in Morocco’s capability to host such major international events.

Reviewing INTERPOL’s progress under his leadership, Al-Raisi highlighted advancements in international cooperation, database expansion, joint operations, and t
he promotion of gender equality within the organization. The INTERPOL General Assembly, consisting of delegates appointed by member governments, convenes annually to decide on policies, resources, methods, and finances, fostering international cooperation.

The General Assembly serves as the largest global gathering of law enforcement leaders, providing an excellent platform for countries to build relationships and share experiences.
