Rabat:Secretary-General of the Istiqlal Party, Nizar Baraka, announced on Wednesday that the party’s National Council will consider the possibility of joining the new government and evaluate the outcomes of the September 23 elections.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Baraka made these remarks following a meeting with Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, who is conducting consultations with political parties for the formation of a new government. Baraka affirmed the Istiqlal Party’s commitment to supporting the political process, irrespective of its role within the government.
Baraka emphasized the need for a broad-based mobilization in Morocco to transcend electoral competition and strengthen the domestic front, addressing geostrategic, economic, and social challenges, especially those related to employment, unemployment, purchasing power, and expanding the middle class.
He also lauded the Royal trust vested in El Mansouri, the first woman appointed to lead a government in Morocco, describing it as a historic moment and a significant development for the nation and Moroccan women.
The meeting provided a platform to discuss various challenges, including restoring trust in political action. It was attended by representatives from the Authenticity and Modernity Party and the Istiqlal Party, including Abdellatif Ouahbi, Fouzi Lekjaa, Ahmed Akhchichine, Abdeljebbar Rachidi, Abdessamad Qayouh, and Mohamed Ould Errachid.
