King Mohammed VI Highlights Importance of Local-Level Fieldwork for Regional Development

Jakarta:The real challenge for the coming period lies in conducting fieldwork at the local level to identify the actual problems facing each region and to develop realistic solutions, as affirmed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, in his speech at the opening of the first session of the first legislative year of the 12th Legislature, King Mohammed VI emphasized that advancing integrated development, improving public services, and enhancing productive investment are closely linked to advanced regionalization and administrative de-concentration.

The King pointed out that delays and deficiencies in the implementation of decentralization and administrative de-concentration are negatively impacting economic and social development programs and hindering responses to citizens’ concerns.

His Majesty stressed that any further delay in fully implementing the de-concentration charter is unacceptable, highlighting the need for transferring competencies and resources from the central government to the provinces and regions.

Furthermore, the King underscored the necessity of overcoming obstacles hindering regional institutions by clearly defining their competencies and providing adequate human and material resources.

The Sovereign also called for regulating the relationship between the State and the Regions and establishing mechanisms for coordination and contracting to empower the Regions to make decisions and implement projects effectively.
