Rabat:Partnership is a sovereign choice and a voluntary commitment that will not succumb to pressure, threat, or blackmail, stated His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, during a speech at the opening of the first session of the first legislative year of the 12th Legislature, King Mohammed VI highlighted Morocco’s success in establishing itself as a responsible and reliable international partner. The King emphasized that Morocco remains committed to fulfilling its obligations and expects its partners to do the same.
King Mohammed VI noted Morocco’s balanced approach in managing migration, which has yielded tangible results. However, he acknowledged that the current model of cooperation is outdated, as evidenced by recurring crises. This sentiment extends to Morocco’s partnership with Spain, which has seen significant developments in various sectors, including combating illegal migration.
Despite these advancements, the cooperation faces challenges due to outdated legal provisions and unrealistic judicial rulings, which impede the repatriation of minors and fake asylum seekers, while encouraging criminal networks. The King criticized certain political and media circles for irresponsibly exploiting the issue and reiterated that Morocco’s partnership choices are a matter of sovereignty and voluntary commitment.
To address these challenges, King Mohammed VI announced that Morocco will present a strategic document to its partners, outlining a vision for shared development, economic competitiveness, and regional stability.
