Accra:According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Spanish expert Carlos Uriarte Sánchez emphasized the strategic importance of the recent speech delivered by King Mohammed VI before the Parliament, which advocates for a strengthened partnership between Morocco and Spain founded on mutual respect and trust.
Sánchez, who serves as the president of Paneuropa Spain, highlighted that the king’s speech should be viewed from both a strategic and European perspective due to the critical role that Morocco-Spain relations play in the stability of the Western Mediterranean and cooperation between Europe and Africa.
He noted that the king’s reaffirmation of the sovereign nature of this partnership underscores a fundamental principle relations between states must prioritize mutual respect, trust, and the defense of shared interests.
On the topic of migration, Sánchez drew attention to the king’s assessment of the limitations of the current cooperation model. He argued that migration flows cannot be managed solely through border controls or agreements dependent on changing circumstances.
In response, Sánchez called for renewed migration cooperation that emphasizes shared responsibility, stronger institutional mechanisms between Morocco, Spain, and the European Union, and a greater focus on addressing the structural causes of irregular migration.
He also referenced the king’s announcement of an impending strategic vision centered on co-development, economic competitiveness, and regional stability. Sánchez believes this approach offers a chance to foster a broader partnership focused on legal mobility, shared prosperity, and productive investment.
Such a vision, Sánchez concluded, could pave the way for a balanced and sustainable Euro-Moroccan partnership characterized by a fair distribution of responsibilities and benefits, ultimately contributing to the prosperity of Morocco, Spain, and the European Union.
