King Mohammed VI’s Speech Advocates for Renewed Partnerships and Cooperation

Brussels:The recent speech by HM King Mohammed VI to the members of both Houses of Parliament has been hailed as “an act of openness and dialogue with Morocco’s partner countries,” according to Belgian Minister of State André Flahaut, who highlighted its potential to reshape relations around stronger cooperation and mutual respect.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, King Mohammed VI emphasized the importance of establishing a renewed partnership with neighboring countries and European partners, grounded in political will and voluntary commitment. Flahaut noted that this vision is significant, particularly in light of ongoing tensions related to migration, which he believes should be approached with a focus on its human dimension.

The Royal Speech reflected the King’s firm determination to foster cooperation that upholds human dignity, avoiding exploitation by interest groups or political parties concerned with closing Europe’s doors. Flahaut, a former speaker of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives and Defense Minister, highlighted the significance of maintaining the sovereign and voluntary nature of partnerships to prevent political exploitation regarding migration issues.

Additionally, the speech was described as a roadmap addressing Morocco’s priorities, from consolidating economic and diplomatic achievements to advancing institutional and social reforms. The King emphasized reconciling economic growth with social and territorial justice and developing strategic infrastructure across various sectors.

Flahaut also pointed out that the Royal Speech extends beyond merely assessing progress, advocating for continued efforts to build institutions that respond to citizens’ concerns, particularly those of young people, and promote development benefiting all regions and communities.
