King Mohammed VI’s Speech Highlights Strategic Morocco-Spain Partnership

Accra:According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the speech delivered by King Mohammed VI to the Parliament emphasizes the importance of strengthening the partnership between Morocco and Spain, rooted in “mutual respect and trust.” This message was analyzed by Spanish expert Carlos Uriarte Sánchez, president of Paneuropa Spain, who underscored its significance from a “strategic and European perspective,” particularly for the stability of the Western Mediterranean and cooperation between Europe and Africa.

King Mohammed VI’s address reaffirmed that the sovereign nature of the Morocco-Spain partnership is grounded in mutual respect and trust, advocating for the defense of common interests. On the topic of migration, Sánchez highlighted the King’s assessment of the limitations in the current cooperation model, suggesting that migration flows cannot be managed by border controls or agreements reliant on current circumstances alone.

Sánchez called for renewed migration collaboration that involves shared responsibility, enhanced institutional mechanisms between Morocco, Spain, and the European Union, and a deeper understanding of the structural causes of irregular migration. He also responded positively to the King’s announcement of a forthcoming strategic vision focusing on co-development, economic competitiveness, and regional stability. This approach is seen as an opportunity to foster a broader partnership prioritizing legal mobility, shared prosperity, and productive investment.

The new vision proposed by King Mohammed VI could contribute to building a balanced and sustainable Euro-Moroccan partnership with equitable distribution of responsibilities and benefits, ultimately serving the prosperity of Morocco, Spain, and the European Union.
